Chris Smalling is steadily increasing workload in training in order to return to Daniele De Rossi’s full disposal in the coming weeks.

The Englishman – reports Corriere dello Sport – continues to deal with pain and soreness in his knee and quadriceps which has further delayed his recovery in recent months.

The newspaper claims that Smalling is not yet fit to play any significant minutes for Roma as the Giallorossi look to travel to Holland where they will face Feyenoord on Thursday night as part of the Europa League playoffs.

Smalling is expected to travel with the team but remain on the bench for the entire duration of the match.

There is a chance, however, that Smalling could see limited playing time on Sunday as Roma will square off against Frosinone. Daniele De Rossi, in fact, could choose to give the veteran centreback a chance to feature in the final minutes.
