Striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting has bid farewell to FC Bayern and its fans in an emotional video message. After four years, the player is leaving the German record champions, a decision that has visibly touched not only the fans, but also himself.

In his farewell message, which was shared on FC Bayern’s social media, Choupo-Moting took the opportunity to emphasise a personal connection to the fans and his adopted home of Bavaria: „First of all, I have to say: I’ve really taken the word ‚Servus‘ to my heart. And that’s not so natural for a young man from Hamburg. Because I used to only say: Moin, Moin.“

„I would like to thank you for four unforgettable years in which you always supported me and the team. I would also like to thank the entire FC Bayern staff and every member of staff here at the Säbener and in the Allianz Arena. And of course I’d like to thank my team-mates, with whom I had a great time. Guys, I’m really going to miss you,“ he added, visibly emotional.

Since his move from Paris Saint-Germain in 2020, Choupo-Moting has played 122 competitive matches for Bayern, scoring 38 goals and winning major titles including three league titles, the German Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup. His expiring contract was not extended, meaning he can move to a new club on a free transfer in the summer.

Choupo wishes Bayern „many, many titles“

During his last words to the fans, Choupo-Moting also expressed his wishes for the club: „I wish FC Bayern all the best for the future and lots of titles. Mia san mia. Thank you very much, Choupo.“ The Cameroon international was regarded as a great supporter and motivator within the team and by the fans. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting will be fondly remembered by the team and fans alike.

With the departure of the striker, Munich now only have two nominal strikers in the squad in Harry Kane and Mathys Tel. Further reinforcements in this position seem likely – the name Serhou Guirassy from surprise team VfB Stuttgart has been mentioned time and again recently.
