Chloe Craig hopes fans can party on at Paradise

If you like a party then come on over to our place this weekend as Paradise is the place to be, with not only one, but possibly, and hopefully, TWO Trophy Days to celebrate on the hallowed turf.

The men will pick up the SPFL trophy for the third consecutive season on Saturday with the club’s 54th title in all, but history could be made on the very same pitch against Hibernian 24 hours later if Celtic FC Women lift their league silverware for the first time ever.

And the Ghirls would like nothing better than for anyone who enjoys Saturday’s party to get back along on Sunday and help them in their fight to be champions, and deliver a unique league double for Celtic.

Defender Chloe Craig said of the backing the team has received: “It’s everything to us, I know it’s a bit clichéd when everyone says it’s their 12th man, but to us they really are.

“They show up home and way, and we hear them when we need them.

‘To have the ones that are always there backing us would be amazing, but to get as many supporters as we can at Celtic Park would be incredible.’

“We’ve done it before, and, finger crossed, we get it again.

“It’s incredible, it’s something that you can’t put into words. You can’t hear anybody on the park. All you’re doing is trying to read lips. It’s incredible to have that backing.

“Without them we maybe wouldn’t be able to go on and lift ourselves. They are the ones that help us through the hard times.”

Celtic FC Women's longest-serving player added: “To be able to win it here, and being my childhood club, it would mean the world to me and my family.

“But I know it would also mean a lot to the girls that have also been here for quite a while, especially one of my best pals, Kelly Clark, our captain, so to lift it with her would be amazing.”

It’s not just a matter of turning up, though, Hibs are no pushovers and, with Rangers taking on Partick Thistle and hoping for a slip-up at Celtic Park, the Ghirls know what is at stake.

Craig said: “We’ve kept ourselves grounded, nothing’s won yet. We need to go out there and get the three points, and that’s what’s most important to us just now.

'I wouldn’t say there are any nerves, around the camp, it’s quite cool. It’s calm, we know what we need to do, so we’re just focused on us and looking forward to it.'

“We’ve worked all season for it, and Elena’s come in and done a good job with us. It’s all credit to her and her tactics, her technique and her style of play.

“So, we’re looking forward to it, we know what it’s like to be at the end of the season and have it in our hands, but hopefully we grab it this time.”

Like the men’s’ team, it’s been a great end to the season for the Ghirls, but, also like the men’s team the hard work has been put in all year.

Chloe Craig said: “I think it just comes from your mentality at the start of the season and the group that you have.

“We were close to it last season, so we know what it was like and we hurt, and we still carry that pain, and we want to rectify that this season.

“So, that’s what we’ve taken into every game and every training session.

'For us to lift the trophy at the end of the season would just be a statement that we’re here and we’re Glasgow Celtic. The only way we’re going is up.'

“It would be incredible for us, especially with the men lifting the trophy tomorrow (Saturday) and then hopefully we lift ours on Sunday after them, which is the goal.

“Then we go down in history just like they keep writing near enough every season.”

The Ghirls aim to sign off an incredible campaign with a final three points as they take on Hibernian this Sunday at Celtic Park (KO: 2:10pm) and tickets are available to buy online now.
