From the very first minutes, both teams made clear why they are considered title contenders as they fight hard over ball possession with plenty of fast-paced breaks and a lot of open spaces due to their aggressive stances.

In minute 12 Cruz caught a loose ball inside the box and shot the ball into the back of the net to give the away team the lead. Four minutes later, Ovalle doubled Tigres’ lead with a long-range shot past Felix. Six minutes later, Mayor got the third goal for Tigres with a header inside the 6-yd box.

By minute 22 Carolina Jaramillo and Alicia Cervantes teamed up and were close to opening the scoreboard for Chivas; however, Espinoza cleared the ball off the goalline. A minute later, ‘Licha’ showed what she is made of with a superb golazo.

The second half was a real heavyweight fight and although Chivas Femenil fought their hearts out, they fell shy of getting the equalizer.

In the 51st minute, Damaris Godínez pulled one back for El Rebaño as she took advantage of a huge mistake from Tigres GK. In minute 56 Blanca Felix displayed fantastic goalkeeping skills as she saved a violent shot from Ovalle.

Mayor scored Tigres’ fourth goal from a very long distance in minute 70. Four minutes later, ‘Caro’ Jaramillo crashed the ball into the post following a curling left-footed shot. Just eight minutes before the final whistle, Carolina Jaramillo entered the ball and assisted brilliantly Joseline Montoya who cashed calmy from close-range.

Chivas Femenil’s next game will be the first leg of the quarterfinals with their rival still to be confirmed.
