After a horrendous start to the Guard1anes 2021 season, Chivas are reportedly preparing to use a novel formation for Monday’s match at León.
Manager Víctor Manuel Vucetich has used 4-2-3-1, 4-3-3 and 4-4-2 systems so far, but with little success.
Los Rojiblancos have earned just two points from their opening four games, and travel to the defending champions in desperate need of a first win of the campaign.
According to MARCA Claro, Vucetich has been lining his side up in a5-2-3 during training this week.
Hiram Mier, Gilberto Sepúlveda and Antonio Briseño would occupy the central defensive positions, with Isaac Brizuela and Alejandro Mayorga operating as wing-backs outside them.
A holding midfield partnership of Jesús Molina and Alan Eduardo Torres would play behind a front three of Uriel Antuna, José Juan Macías and Cristian Calderón or Jesús Ricardo Angulo.
Alexis Vega is likely to start on the bench after spending the week recovering from a nasty challenge by Flavio Santos in last Saturday’s defeat at Juárez.
Vucetich’s thinking is to provide a solid defensive for the Flock – who have yet to keep a clean sheet – and then utilise the pace of the attackers on the break.
It seems a reasonable plan on paper, but Chivas will need to put theory into effective practice if they are to reverse their recent fortunes.
