A brace from Cristian Calderón propelled Chivas into the Guard1anes 2020 semi-finals at the expense of Clåsico Nacional rivals América.
CalderĂłnâs goal in Guadalajara in midweek had given his side a 1-0 lead heading into this quarter-final second leg at the Estadio Azteca.
Following a bright start, the Flock opened the scoring just after the half hour.
América gave away possession cheaply, allowing the visitors to break and Calderón joined late before unleashing a left-footed thunderbolt from 30 yards that left Guillermo Ochoa clutching at thin air.
Chivas took that lead into the break, but the Azulcrema came extremely close to levelling matters on the night seven minutes after the restart when Henry MartĂn had his goalbound effort cleared off the line by Gilberto SepĂșlveda.
It would prove a costly miss, as Chivas and CalderĂłn put the tie beyond doubt with 18 minutes remaining.
And it was another special strike, with the 24-year-old finishing off a break by sending a shot crashing off the underside of the crossbar and over the line.
AmĂ©rica did hit back moments later with a counter-attack of their own, MartĂn reducing the deficit by slotting past RaĂșl Gudiño from the edge of the penalty area.
That was as much as Las Ăguilas could muster, as their season came to an end on the back of this 3-1 aggregate defeat.
