Chivas have confirmed that goalkeeper Antonio ‘Toño’ Rodríguez will miss the rest of the regular Apertura season after undergoing foot surgery on Saturday.

The 29-year-old started the season as number one for Los Rojiblancos, but subsequently lost his starting position to Raúl Gudiño.

He played all of the opening five games, conceding seven goals and keeping two clean sheets.

Rodríguez last featured competitively in the 3-0 home defeat to León on 19 August, and has not even made the bench for the last six outings.

Chivas will take on Toluca on Sunday in desperate need of a win.

The Guadalajara outfit currently find themselves outside the top 12 sides that will progress to the post-season action.
