Chivas will be interested onlookers during Wednesday’s Concacaf Champions League final when Pumas travel to face Seattle Sounders in the second leg of the decider.
The Liga MX side blew a 2-0 lead at home in the first leg, and travel to Lumen Field level with their Major League Soccer opponents.
Lifting the silverware will be key to Los Universitarios maintaining the services of veteran goalkeeper Alfredo Talavera.
The 39-year-old is out of contract this summer, but would sign an extension if Pumas book their place at the Fifa World Cup Cup.
Should Seattle be the side to reach the tournament in China, TUDN reports that Talavera is all but certain to end his association with the club he joined from Toluca in 2020.
It would be a homecoming of sorts for the netminder were he to return to Guadalajara, where he graduated from the Chivas academy in 2003.
The 38-times capped Mexico international subsequently spent six years on the first team books with Los Rojiblancos, but was unable to nail down a starting spot.
