Chivas have found their new manager in a familiar place, as interim boss Ricardo Cadena is set to stay on as the club’s permanent boss.

TUDN reports that the Chivas board has decided to keep Cadena on ahead of the 2022 Apertura, set to kick off in July.

The 52-year-old had been promoted from reserve outfit CD Tapatío after Marcelo Michel Leaño was sacked in April following a lacklustre start to the camaign.

The Chivas board, headed by Ricardo Peláez, had reportedly considered a number of options for the position.

Cadena steadied the ship for Los Rojiblancos, with the team finishing a respectable sixth in the 2022 Clausura regular season table.

They ousted Pumas in the Repechaje before losing to eventual finalists Atlas in the quarter-finals of the Liguilla.

Despite that setback against their Guadalajara neighbours, Cadena has seemingly done enough to earn convince the Flock’s hierarchy of his credentials.
