The Chivas board have turned down a move to bring Carlos Peña back to Mexico after a rough two years in Europe.
Peña had been at Polish second-division side GKS Tychy since March but was released after not featuring once for the club.
His agents have already offered him to several clubs in Mexico, including Chivas and Monarcas, but those attempts have been swiftly turned down.
It is now likely that Peña will either play for an Ascenso MX side or retire from professional football altogether.
The 29-year-old was last seen in action on loan at Necaxa during the 2018 Apertura season, where he made five appearances.
Peña is widely regarded as one of the biggest flops in Chivas history. He was purchased in January 2016 from Leon for $8m before being sold to Rangers just 18 months later for $3m after 37 rather unimpressive performances.
