Chivas have registered José Juan Macías in their squad for the 2022 Clausura after his unsuccessful loan spell at Getafe came to an end.
The 22-year-old had made no secret of his wish to move to Europe, and so it was no surprise when he signed a year-long deal with the LaLiga side last July.
But his time in Spain has been cut short, and Chivas have moved to ensure he is available to play should he stay in Mexico.
TUDN have reported that the striker will be able to start training with the Flock this week.
However there is still the chance that he will go down another route, rather than return to his boyhood club.
Sporting Kansas City are understood to have made an offer, with the MLS outfit on the lookout for a reinforcement after former Chivas striker Alan Pulido underwent knee surgery that will see him sidelined for the 2022 season.
CSKA Moscow were also linked with Macías, but the Mexico international has reportedly baulked at the opportunity to move to Russia.
