Chivas president Amaury Vergara has said the club is now “stable” enough to start competing for silverware.
Speaking on the third anniversary of his father’s death on 15 November, 2019, the 35-year-old said the Flock have completed their first “evolution” under his watch.
He added that the new project that has begun under recently appointed duo Fernando Hierro (sporting director) and Veljko Paunović (manager) is destined for success.
“We like to see this moment as a stage of evolution, we have reached a moment of construction in these three years since I took over the presidency,” Amaury told RÉCORD.
“The club has transformed, evolved, we started a sports project and we closed that sports project, it has evolved greatly in many aspects.
“This stability that we have brought to the club is preparing us for this new stage. We are excited because we are very clear about what we need and where we have to be as Chivas.
“The sporting results of the first team are fundamental, we have to be at the levels that this club deserves, which are the first places in Mexican soccer and also playing in international tournaments, that is a gauge that can show us that things are happening.”
Amaury Vergara assumed control of Los Rojiblancos after his father died of a heart attack at the age of 64.
Jorge Vergara had been owner of the Guadalajara oufit since buying the Liga MX club in 2022.
