After over a month of rumours, Javier Eduardo “Chofis” López has finally moved to Matías Almeyda’s San Jose Earthquakes.
López, who won a total of five trophies with Chivas, will reunite with Almeyda after the Concacaf Champions League-winning manager made the switch to Major League Soccer in October 2018.
López will join on an initial 12-month loan deal, with San Jose paying 100% of the player’s salary.
López was separated from the Chivas squad last season along with two of his team-mates after attending a party in which a serious allegation was made against former-teammate Dieter Villalpando, who was immediately released from the club.
Chofis was also linked with Tomás Boy’s Mazatlán FC and with Nacho Ambriz’s León, in addition to a move to Turkey.
