Chivas manager Ricardo Cadena adds fuel to Orbelín Pineda rumours

Orbelín Pineda’s name is in the headlines again after Chivas’ interim manager Ricardo Cadena discussed his possible transfer to the club.

In an interview with MARCA Claro, the manager revealed the ball is in the player’s court regarding leaving his current club Celta Vigo to play in Liga MX.

“I know that the decision is on his side,” he said.

“The intention of the sports management for a few weeks is to make him come to Chivas. I understand that it only takes a yes for him to arrive, I think that our part has done everything possible so that he can be.

Additionally, the 52-year-old admitted bringing the midfielder to Chivas would be a significant squad boost if the deal is completed.

“I think that with the arrival of Orbelín we will have a very complete squad,’ he said.

“With his arrival it would allow you to have [options], today we are working in various ways and that [is a] possibility that gives us the characteristics with the players we have.”

Pineda is a familiar face for Liga MX fans having made 127 appearances for Chivas, 113 for Cruz Azul and 59 for Querétaro FC where he registered a combined 32 goals and 29 assists.
