Chivas became one of the biggest teams in the Liga MX between 1956 and 1965 and one of those responsible for this was Sábas Ponce.
Unfortunately, the midfielder passed away on Monday at the age of 84.
He will be remembered for being one of the most decorated players in Chivas history with 19 titles. Most notably, along with team-mate José Villegas, he has the most individual Liga MX titles in history with eight.
Chivas remembered the idol on social media with the headline: “Thank you, Don Sabás, because your story is the legacy of more than 40 million Rojiblancos.”
La ‘Hormiguita’ (The Ant) as they nicknamed him, came to the club since he was 15 years old and retired in 1973.
