Chivas have 'agreement in place' to make John van 't Schip manager | OneFootball

Though reports are unconfirmed, Récord have claimed that Chivas have an ‘agreement in place’ to bring back manager John van ‘t Schip.

Jaime Lozano, Antonio Mohamed and Matías Almeyda have dominated the rumours but it’s the former Netherlands international winger who has emerged as one of the favourites to take over the vacant position.

Récord states that the current Greece national team manager will replace Marcelo Leaño at the end of the 2021 Apertura, which goes against other media reports stating that the interim boss would not finish the season.

This would be the Dutch-Canadian’s second stint in charge of Chivas after leading them during the 2012 Apertura at the suggestion of Johan Cruyff, a decision that was later criticised by Jorge Vergara.

Following his first stint in charge, where he posted a record of eight wins, six draws, and nine defeats, van ‘t Schip managed Australian side Melbourne City FC from 2013 to 2017 before returning to the Netherlands to manage PEC Zwolle and take care of his terminally-ill father.

He has been in charge of the Greece national team since summer 2019. Though they have not been eliminated from World Cup qualifying, their hopes took a massive blow today as they fell 2-0 against Sweden.
