The numbers don’t lie: Chivas are experiencing their worst start to a Liga MX season in six years.

Ricardo Cadena’s side have just one point and one goal to their credit after the opening four games of the 2022 Apertura campaign.

According to newspaper El Informador, the last time the Flock were so ineffective in front of goal during the same period was in the early weeks of the 2016 Apertura.

At least back then Los Rojiblancos had a win under their belts courtesy of Néstor Calderón’s goal against Monterrey.

The season-ending knee injury suffered by José Juan Macías just before the opening day is certainly a mitigating factor.

New arrival Santiago Ormeño will be under huge pressure to deliver once he sees league action.

But, with just one goal in his last 25 Liga MX appearances, the Mexican-born Peru international is not noted for his consistency in terms of finding the net.

Cadena will be hoping the 28-year-old has packed his scoring boots, as neither the Chivas hierachy nor fanbase have shown themselves to be particularly patient in similar circumstances in the past.
