Fernando Hierro is reportedly still in Spain looking to nail down the next manager of Chivas.
The former La Roja and Real Madrid captain was recently installed as sporting director of the Flock, and admitted that appointing a coach who has worked in Europe and could nurture young talent was his top priority.
Albert Celades emerged as the early favourite for the role, with Hierro travelling to his homeland to try and convince the 47-year-old to take over at the Estadio Akron.
RÉCORD reports that while negotiations are ongoing, the process to agree a deal with the former Valencia boss is proving more ‘complicated’ than anticipated.
Former América and Monterrey manager Antonio Mohamed is also rumoured to be on the shortlist, along with ex Cruz Azul supremo Paco Jémez.
With the search for a new manager dragging on, Chivas decided to give their players an extra two weeks off before commencing pre-season training for the 2023 Clausura.
Los Rojiblancos will reconvene at Valle Verde on 14 November.
