Ricardo Pepi is certainly one of the jewels of both Major League Soccer and the United States national team and has garnered plenty of interest from Europe and elsewhere.

The 18-year-old FC Dallas forward has been incredible this season, scoring 13 goals and delivering a pair of assists in 31 MLS games this season.

In addition, Pepi wasted no time settling into his national team role, earning the regular starting striker role after famously delivering three goals and two assists in his first two international appearances.

Pepi was born in the United States but his parents are both Mexican, hence why he’s been linked with several Liga MX giants.

In a conversation with Mediotiempo, the player’s father revealed that Chivas, Monterrey, and Santos Laguna all tempted the player with offers.

“We were approached by Mexican teams from Guadalajara, Monterrey and Santos. They wanted us to take him to test himself, but there was also the FC Dallas academy.”

Of course, he has since committed himself to the United States, stating: “I was born and raised in the USA. This country has given me and my family a home and the possibility to achieve my dreams.

“It has supported me and taught me that when you work hard, you will be rewarded.”

Pepi has been linked to some of Europe’s biggest clubs, including but not limited to Bayern Munich, Ajax, and Borussia Dortmund.
