Chivas salvaged a 1-1 draw thanks for Carlos Cisneros’ late equaliser against Atlas as both teams saw red cards in Saturday’s Liga MX action.

Scorers: Cisneros 84′; Quiñones 63′

A feisty first period saw both sides reduced to 10 men with Atlas defender Luis Reyes shown a straight red in the ninth minute for kicking Isaác Brizuela in the face before Miguel Ponce was given his marching orders ten minutes before the break.

Atlas would break the deadlock in a game of few chances when Julián Quiñones’ tantalising free-kick would evade everyone in the box and creep in at the back post in the 63rd minute.

Chivas pushed for an equaliser, testing Camilo Vargas in the Atlas goal time and time again.

Alexis Vega and Alvardo would have effort denied before Carlos Cisneros’ effort, stroked into the far post from the edge of the penalty area, drew Chivas level with barely five minutes left to play.

This result keeps Chivas languishing towards the bottom of the table, having only picked up six points from their opening eight games.
