Chivas have parted ways with manager Víctor Manuel Vucetich and his coaching staff.

The 66-year-old had been under pressure after a disappointing start to the season, but his sacking comes in the wake of a 1-0 win over Pachuca on Saturday.

An official statement from the Flock read: “The Guadalajara Sports Club informs that as of today, Professor Víctor Manuel Vucetich and his coaching staff cease to be part of the institution.

“We appreciate the professionalism they showed during the 13 months they were at the helm of our team, during which time they helped us return to the play-offs after a period of absence.

“We also want to highlight all their work and dedication that they used at this time to help in the training of the young people of our quarry; some of which he debuted and gave continuity to.

“We wish him and his team success in his next projects.

“The Board has decided that an institutional technical body will be in charge of the team on an interim basis.

“In the short-term, it will be determined who will be the new Technical Director of the Chivas, among whose responsibilities will be to enhance the competitive level of the team to guide the team to the constancy of results that will keep it at the top of the ranking.”

‘King Midas’ was in charge of Los Rojiblancos for a total of 45 games, recording 17 wins, 17 draws and 11 defeats.

The timing of the decision seems extremely strange, both in the context of the last-gasp win over Pachuca and the fact that Chivas face a Clásico Nacional against América next Saturday.
