Chivas and América are reportedly in talks about a possible swap deal that would send shockwaves through Liga MX.
Carlos Reynoso of KC Deportes was the first to claim that the two Clásico Nacional rivals were considering an agreement that would see Uriel Antuna and Sebastián Córdova move in opposite directions.
And TUDN correspondent Gibrán Araige followed up on that report to confirm via Twitter that “there are talks between [the] clubs”.
It is no surprise that Chivas are willing to let Antuna go, with the former Manchester City winger failing to impress with the Flock since joining two years ago.
What would be more surprising is the prospect of the Azulcrema showing midfielder Córdova the door.
The 24-year-old came up through the ranks with Las Águilas, and has established himself as a regular in the Mexico senior squad.
With both clubs making disappointing early exits in the Apertura play-offs, it could be that silly season has started early with transfer speculation ahead of the 2022 Clausura.
We’ll have to watch this space to see if there’s anything concrete to this sensational rumour.
