Chicago Fire forward Xherdan Shaqiri has become the latest MLS player confirmed at the 2022 World Cup after being named on Switzerland's roster for the tournament.
Murat Yakin revealed his 26-man roster on Wednesday morning, with Shaqiri a key player on the list alongside Premier League stars like Granit Xhaka, Manuel Akanji and Denis Zakaria.
Switzerland have been drawn into Group G alongside Brazil, Serbia, Cameroon, opening their campaign against the latter on November 24.
Shaqiri, 31, has 108 caps for Switzerland to date and is now preparing to take part in his fourth World Cup. The former Liverpool and Bayern Munich man has a solid record at the tournament, hitting four goals and one assist in nine appearances so far - including a famous last-minute winner against Serbia in 2018.
Since moving from Lyon in February, Shaqiri has made 29 MLS appearances for the Fire, scoring seven goals and setting up another six - though that wasn't enough to push Chicago back into the Playoffs for the first time since 2017.
