AFC Bournemouth have completed the signing of French international full-back Adrien Truffert.

The 23-year-old joins the Cherries from Rennes where he made 191 appearances (scoring nine goals and assisting 20 from defence). Truffert was also named the team's captain last year.

"I’m really happy and proud to join AFC Bournemouth," Truffert said about the move. "It’s a great opportunity for me to keep progressing and to be part of an ambitious project. I felt the club’s confidence in me from the first discussions, and I’m excited to get started.

"It’s a dream for any player to play in the Premier League. It’s one of the best and most competitive leagues in the world. I’m looking forward to testing myself at this level, facing top players every week, and helping the team achieve great things."

Truffert has reportedly signed a five-year deal with the club with Bournemouth paying Rennes a fee of €17 million for the player.

It's easy to see why Andoni Iraola would want a player like Truffert who is happy to join the attack. The flying full-back was ranked fourth in Ligue 1 in the 2024/25 season for crosses into the penalty area (20) and ninth for progressive passes received (243 in total).
