Chelsea’s three top dribblers are not who you’d expect

Chelsea have some seriously talented wide players in their squad.
Christian Pulisic, Hakim Ziyech, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell and Reece James are all among the best in the league one on one, or have the pace to take anyone on in a kick and chase.
But if you look at WhoScored’s rankings of which players have the most dribbles per game in the Premier League, it’s none of those guys, it’s our central midfileders.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek is top, followed by Mateo Kovacic and N’Golo Kante.
Now one thing you can take from that is that it’s easier to dribble in the middle of the pitch, or perhaps whatever WhoScored record as a dribble is more applicable to what they do than to what the wingers do on the sideline.
But it also reminds you just how blessed we are to have central midfielders who can burst forward like that. All of those three are exceptional at it, and with them all fit we look so much more dangerous in attack.
