Chelsea’s sister club Strasbourg are closing in for a deal for France U16 captain Tyrese Noubissie, according to a report from top French football paper L’Equipe.

After spending time in the Leicester academy, Man City signed the then 14 year old for €1.2m in August 2023. He’s been developed there, but is now looking to move on, and despite interest from the likes of Ajax, Bayer Leverkusen and Man U, has apparently been tempted by the BlueCo project.

City have offered their young star a long contract, but he’s tempted by the chance to play regularly at a younger age. That’s why Strasbourg provide a tempting destination, even more than the bigger clubs also pushing for him.

Liam Rosenior and before him Patrick Vieira have really established a convincing pathway for young players, and Noubissie is certainly a prime one of those. He just captained the French U16s at the Montaigu tournament, and is seen as a potential future star.

Strasbourg will happily accept that the youngster is destined for bigger things – they can get some great use out of him in the meantime, and make a profit when he goes. Chelsea will clearly want to be first option if Noubissie keeps developing.

Chelsea and Strasbourg look to keep profitable talent pipeline going

Chelsea of course have a strong connection with the City academy given the number of former players, coaches and recruitment suits we’ve got onboard.

The fee is not mentioned in the piece, but given his age we wouldn’t expect it to be anything too crazy. There should be the chance for our French sister club to make a serious wedge of profit in the future if the all round midfielder turns out to be half as good as some are predicting.
