Chelsea’s Sam Kerr was the star of the show on Sunday thanks to her second half heroics against Manchester United to help her side win the Women’s Super League title.

The Aussie produced two stunning strikes in support of goals from Erin Cuthbert and Guro Reiten to produce an emphatic comeback for the Blues.

Kerr’s efforts made it the perfect occasion — not only did she play a huge part in Chelsea’s third consecutive title win, but she was named Player of the Match and won the Golden Boot for the second season running.

It was such a successful afternoon that the excitement completely got the better of her.

After officially clinching their fifth WSL title, the Chelsea team made their way onto the pitch for the trophy lift. Kerr emerged to rapturous applause and she basked in the jubilations as she danced in front of her adoring fans.

She ran along the line of Chelsea coaching and backroom staff to high five them all before rushing to embrace manager Emma Hayes.

The striker completely bypassed the medal stand, far too excited to notice she had a lovely gold gong waiting for her.

“Your medal!” Hayes can be heard shouting over the cheering as she directed Kerr back in the opposite direction.

Kerr laughed as she ran back to collect her medal before finally joining her teammates on the podium to celebrate their historic win.

Sky Sports WSL uploaded the clip to Twitter, which has been viewed more than 86,000 times already.

An historic title win for Chelsea

Chelsea’s triumph this season is a new record for the most consecutive title wins in England’s top flight, but it hasn’t been an easy journey for the champions.

A 3-2 opening weekend defeat at the hands of title rivals Arsenal was a huge blow for the Blues, but the talent in Hayes’ team shone through, and while it may have taken them until the last match of the season, they made sure they finished the job in style.

Chelsea won won 18 of the 22 games played this campaign, drawing two and losing two.

Arsenal had a superior goal difference to their London opponents, so the Blues seriously needed a win against Man United to secure the silverware.

The title swung between the control of the top two sides on five different occasions throughout their final matches. Chelsea trailed twice to Man United, which placed the advantage in the hands of the Gunners.

But despite their 2-0 win over West Ham, Jonas Eidevall’s side had to settle for second place, as there was nothing they could do to counter a Chelsea win.

However, Arsenal have secured their spot in the Champions League next season along with Manchester City, who face Chelsea in the FA Cup final next Sunday.
