Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku in Saudi Arabia to discuss Al Hilal move | OneFootball

Goal are reporting that Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku (30) has travelled to Saudi Arabia for discussions to join Al Hilal. The Belgian international has received an offer of a two-year deal, worth €25m per season.

Just hours after the Champions League final which he lost, Lukaku travelled to Saudi Arabia on Monday. The Belgian forward has been on loan at the Serie A club this season, but he is now set to return to parent club Chelsea. His future, therefore, is unclear, and within this context, the player is exploring the option of a move to Saudi Arabia.

Karim Benzema has already joined Al Ittihad this summer, whilst a move for N’Golo Kanté still hangs in the balance, other players such as Chelsea teammate Kalidou Koulibaly have also been targeted by the Saudi Private Investment Fund (PIF).

According to Goal, Lukaku is the latest to engage in conversation and has held negotiations with Al Hilal. However, the Saudi club’s current offer, worth €25m per season, doesn’t meet Lukaku’s expectations. Given that the former Manchester United forward is under contract with Chelsea until 2026, the Saudi club must also engage in negotiations with Chelsea, who are reportedly demanding €50m for their striker. Al Hilal are willing to negotiate but aren’t willing to stump up such a fee.

According to Santi Aouna, whilst a meeting did take place between Lukaku and Al Hilal, it took place in a Parisian hotel, not in Saudi Arabia. The Foot Mercato journalist adds that contrary to Goal’s report, Lukaku has been offered just €20m, and whilst the Belgian international is interested, he wants a lot more than to make the move to the Gulf State.
