Earlier this month, Chelsea released a teaser trailer on social media for what appeared to a new kit.

The trailer featured a retro Chelsea badge along with the number 50, leading many sleuths to deduce that the jersey would be a tribute to the club’s first ever FA Cup triumph back in 1970.

The kit still features the Nike and Yokohama Tyres logo but they are both blended into the shirt in what is presumably an homage to the days when kits didn’t feature sponsors.

Frank Lampard’s side face Nottingham Forest in the third round of the FA Cup on 5 January and they are expected to give the kit its first and possibly only outing that day.

In the meantime, the shirt is scheduled for release on 21 December. Just in time for Christmas.
