Chelsea defender Reece James has returned to training ahead of the club’s Champions League round of 16 match against Borussia Dortmund tomorrow, according to the Evening Standard.

The right-back missed Chelsea’s 1-0 victory over Leeds United on Saturday. Manager Graham Potter attributed his absence to tightness in his hamstring.

The news disappointed Chelsea fans with the right-back an integral part of the squad. He is one of the best in the world in his position.

James is injury prone and has missed a chunk of the campaign with issues. A knee injury prevented him from making England’s 2022 World Cup squad.

Chelsea need all hands on deck as they welcome German high-flyers Borussia Dortmund to fight for a place in the quarter-finals of Europe’s premier competition.

BVB visit Stamford Bridge with a 1-0 lead from the first leg in Germany. A solo Karim Adeyemi goal gave the Bundesliga club the win.

They also have form on their side. They are on a ten-game winning run in the Bundesliga, catapulting themselves to second in the Bundesliga, only behind Bayern Munich on goal difference.

They are riding high on confidence, but club CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has warned them of complacency.

The 63-year-old told his side not to consider Chelsea’s position in the league and said they could click into gear at any time.

N’Golo Kante and Christian Pulisic also joined in Chelsea training this morning as they close in on their comebacks from injury.

Kante has been out of action since August 2022 with a hamstring issue. Pulisic suffered a knee injury in early January. Both players will not start the game, but a late cameo is possible.
