Chelsea’s Malo Gusto (20) has publicly supported Bradley Barcola (21) in the Paris Saint-Germain winger’s latest spat with his formative club.

The two players had graduated from the Olympique Lyonnais academy but were sold in 2023 by the new regime led by John Textor. The Lyon supporters have been openly furious about this turn of events and feel that Barcola and Gusto, as well as Castello Lukeba (21) all deserted their boyhood club during a crucial time in their history.

A feeling that only grew in the first few months of the season when Ly on were facing the very real prospect of a relegation battle. Barcola was met with open hostility when he made his debut for PSG at the Groupama Stadium in September as the Lyon crowd booed his warmup, his name, and his every touch on the ball.

Barcola sends message to his former club

Before the Sunday evening game between Barcola’s old and new club, Lyon fans were spotted with a banner criticising their three former players: “Leaving your formative club during the storm, you are sh*t.”

Barcola was more than happy to return the ill feeling when he was seen taunting the Lyon fans during their 4-1 defeat to PSG, and even sending the supporters a message at the end of the game as he celebrated the victory on social media with the caption “The justice of God.” Gusto responded to this post on his story with a message of support for his former teammate, “Only justice.”
