Chelsea’s full focus on rest ahead of early kick off

After a poor performance against Watford last night, Thomas Tuchel might have been keen to get his team in for some extra training to set things right.

Instead, as he himself admitted when speaking to the TV cameras after the game, there will barely be any training in the next two days.

His team are tried, battered and bruised from an exhausting trip to Vicarage Road, and now they have just a couple of days rest until they play in the early kick off on Saturday against West Ham.

That promises to be a bruising fixture too, and with even more players going down injured last night, it’s not even clear who’s going to be fit to play.

In any case, we don’t expect much of anything except recovery at Cobham in the next couple of days. Right now, the priority is getting eleven relatively fit players to the London Stadium pitch on Saturday.
