Alexander Isak has just handed in a transfer request at Newcastle, and it has many Chelsea fans wondering if their team would do the unthinkable and sign yet another top tier attacker this summer.

Rogers remains Chelsea’s “dream scenario”

It doesn’t sound likely, but Matt Law’s comments on the London is Blue podcast today did reveal that the Blues have one player in mind they might be willing to break the bank for:

“I still think in Chelsea’s absolute perfect, dream scenario, they’d probably sign Morgan Rogers,” Aston Villa fan Law said.

Rogers is not only a brilliant player and a rising England star, he also knows our sporting directors and coach from Man City.

You can see him speaking in the clip embedded here:

What makes serious Chelsea interest in Rogers difficult this summer

The top transfer insider then went into a little more detail on how likely (or unlikely) a move to Chelsea was for Aston Villa star Rogers:

“[Chelsea] are definitely still interested in Morgan Rogers. But the issue they’ve got is that A) he is the one player that Villa are telling everyone ‘no, we’re not selling him.’ Clearly the price would have to be astronomically high on Rogers. And B) even if that stance were to change, it would probably only change very, very late in the window, if Villa were forced into it because of other circumstances.”

As it stands, with Xavi Simons looking likely to sign in the coming days, we would imagine Chelsea will soon consider their attacking options complete.

Both Rogers and Isak will stay on the list for future years, but right now both look like very expensive solutions for a problem we’ve already invested a lot of money into solving.
