Chelsea’s Diego Moreira set to join Lyon on loan  | OneFootball

L’Équipe are reporting that Chelsea’s Diego Moreira (19) is set to loan Olympique Lyonnais on a season-long loan deal.

Lyon have been in the market for a winger since the sale of Bradley Barcola (20) to Paris Saint-Germain on Thursday. Les Gones had been looking to keep hold of the France youth international, but amidst a precarious financial situation, did not refuse the €50m fee offered by PSG.

According to L’Équipe, multiple options were considered. Due to timing or financial reasons, moves for Almeria’s Largie Ramazani (22), Tottenham Hotspur’s Bryan Gil (22) and Everton’s Demarai Gray (27) were not completed. The latter was also a target for Lille OSC on transfer deadline day.

Ultimately, Lyon landed on Moreria, who arrived at Chelsea from Benfica earlier this summer. The Portuguese youth international winger has played once for the Blues, during a League Cup victory over Wimbledon. However, Moreria, who already speaks French, now looks set for a season in Ligue 1. His agent, Jorge Mendes, has been in direct contact with John Textor, which has facilitated the rapid conclusion of the deal.
