Chelsea’s first summer transfer window under the new ownership was a bit of mad one to say the least.

They came in and were already way behind other clubs after the issues with sanctions, so they were playing catch up and they spent a lot of money to improve the squad and back the manager.

Of course, the manager was since sacked and replaced, which only added to the craziness of everything that happened in the summer, but it was certainly nothing short of entertaining to say the least.

They even tried to hijack other clubs deals in the middle of the night, according to the latest report from Fabrizio Romano, writing on his exclusive Substack newsletter today.

Brazilian attacker Richarlison joined Tottenham from Everton and had agreed the deal, yet Chelsea still tried to wade in right before he was set to take his medical. But in the end, it was too little too late.

Fabrizio Romano: “Chelsea made a bid for Richarlison during the night before his medical tests with Tottenham (made in Brazil); Richarlison had already an agreement with Spurs and same on clubs side, but Chelsea wanted to hijack the deal.”
