With football postponed for the moment, weâve been thinking about who gets in Chelseaâs all-time XI.
Today weâre choosing the right-back.
Here are the nominees âŠ
Many modern fans will know Steve Clarke the manager, but not many will appreciate Steve Clarke the player.
Clarke made 421 appearances for the Blues during a successful eleven year period, and was reliable in every sense â ranging from passing, tackling and positional sense.
He was part of the team that won the FA Cup in 1997, the Cup Winnersâ Cup in 1998 and was even named Player of the Season in 1994.
Weâre pretty sure that looking up âconsistencyâ in the English dictionary will present the definition: CĂ©sar Azpilicueta.
Right back, left back, centre back, wing back â wherever you want him â youâre getting a reliable defensive performance, and he was one of the best players in England during the 2014/15 title win.
Everybody loves a bargain and 300+ appearances, plus five major honours for ÂŁ8m is about as good as they come.
If anyone sums up the post-Abramovich era for Chelsea, itâs Branislav IvanoviÄ.
Having initially struggled following his ÂŁ10m move from Lokomotiv Moscow, IvanoviÄ quickly became a mainstay under nine different managers for his defensive stability, physicality and ability to contribute in big moments.
The big defender left Stamford Bridge in 2017 with 377 appearances to his name, winning three Premier League titles, three FA Cups and the Champions League.
Hereâs how the team is looking so far âŠ
GK: Petr Cech RB: Branislav IvanoviÄ
Check back tomorrow when we will be choosing Chelseaâs greatest ever ⊠left-back.
