Chelsea’s 3 front runners for club POTY as Blues great season rolls on

It feels like just a few week since Enzo Maresca was taking his first training session as Chelsea manager, but in fact it’s been almost 6 months, and more than a quarter of the season has passed.

So far, things have gone incredibly well. We’re well ahead of schedule, and things could get even better if Maresca makes a few tweaks and keeps unlocking individuals and taking them on to the next level.

So if you were going to use your Bet365 sign up offer to pick a Chelsea player to be named the club’s player of the season, who would you go for? There are a few really solid candidates, which is a sure sign we’re having a good season.

Moises Caicedo – the glue

First up, you’d have to have our most consistent performer – midfield machine Moises Caicedo.

While our attackers have each had their ups and downs, with periods of great form and periods of being quieter, Caicedo has been consistently brilliant throughout. He’s finally found his feet in Blue, and has quickly become the glue which holds this team together.

He was even asked to defend as a right back last weekend and did it very effectively.

The guy deserves credit not only for how well he’s playing, but also for how tough he’s been for battling back from the struggles of his first campaign at Chelsea.

Nicolas Jackson – the spearhead

Like Caicedo, Jackson endured his fair share of criticism in his first season at Stamford Bridge, but he too has battled back and made himself one of the best players in the league in his position, let alone at Chelsea.

He’s scoring and assisting regularly, which is of course the priority for a striker. But he offers so much more than that – his work rate is phenomenal, and just the way he stretches the pitch with his tireless runs in behind and pressing of the opposition is worth of huge praise.

Cole Palmer – the wizard

You can’t have a poll like this without including Palmer. The rest of the team getting better has actually made this feel like a quieter season for the phenomenon. He no longer stands out as head and shoulders above the rest not because his level has dropped, but because the rest of the group are finally coming up towards him.

Even after a run without a goal or assist, he will drop a shoulder and whip one into the corner like on Sunday.
