Chelsea make an immediate return to Brighton just six days on from their FA Cup exit at the AMEX Stadium.
The teams meet again in the Premier League on Friday night with Chelsea hoping to consolidate their place in the top four. Enzo Maresca has insisted Champions League qualification is not essential, though a run of two wins in eight league games needs to be addressed.
Having exited both domestic cups, Chelsea’s focus is now on the top four and Europa Conference League as attainable silverware.
Chelsea will be keen to avenge last week’s defeat at Brighton. The Seagulls are 10th in the Premier League table and pushing for European football.
Enzo Maresca has confirmed that Chelsea will be without Nicolas Jackson until after March’s international break. The Senegalese striker is facing six to eight weeks out with a hamstring injury picked up against West Ham. Fellow forward Marc Guiu is also facing a significant spell out with a hamstring issue, leaving the Blues light in the final third.
Elsewhere, Romeo Lavia is not expected back until March, though Wesley Fofana has returned to training. Benoit Badiashile, Omari Kellyman and Mykhailo Mudryk remain unavailable through injury or suspension.
Chelsea predicted XI: Jorgensen; James, Chalobah, Colwill, Cucurella; Fernandez, Caicedo, Palmer; Madueke, Sancho, Nkunku.
Brighton host Chelsea in the Premier League on Friday 14th February 2025. Kick-off at the AMEX Stadium is 20:00 GMT.
The game will be shown live by Sky Sports in the UK.
