Chelsea would apparently sell 26-year-old defender this month in contrasting update

Chelsea are apparently not actively looking to sell one of their defenders this month but they would also sell him this month!

Confused? As am I.

But apparently, even though they are not actively looking to sell him, Chelsea would be up for selling 26-year-old centre back Axel Disasi this month if a decent offer came in. So Chelsea, you either want to sell the man or you don’t? Which is it? Sounds to me like they very much want to sell him, but are sending out these briefings to smooth it all over and make it sound like the player is wanted.

Sources: Two Bournemouth defenders ‘ones to watch’ for Chelsea in January, Joao Felix staying, Goalkeeper on hold, more…

I think Disasi might ask to go anyway, and then Chelsea would 100% sell him. He’s going to be 27 in March, he isn’t a regular starter for the first team other than in Conference League and cup games, he needs to be playing regularly as a starter in league games at this stage in his career. So for me, it’s just inevitable that he will push to go, and of course Chelsea would sell him!

A number of players likely unhappy

Disasi will go, if not now then in the summer

Chelsea have a big squad and use two different starting Xl’s for league and cup games. This is a luxury position to be in because their second string side is also full of talent. But the other side of operating like this is that you are always going to get players who are unhappy with their lack of game time in league matches and players who will be feeling like they should be playing more – and this is what is happening here.

Football London report that Chelsea are not actively looking to sell Disasi, who provides cover for multiple positions across the back-four, but equally would not be adverse to selling the defender should they receive an attractive offer for his signature.
