In a recent report, Tutto Mercato Web stated that Chelsea are working on a deal to land Sevilla defender Jules Kounde next summer. It has been claimed that the Blues are planning to move in for the French defensive ace at the end of this campaign.

Kounde’s Decent Form In Spanish Football This Season

Kounde is having another solid campaign at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium as he has continued to perform at a high level at the heart of Sevilla’s backline. The 23-year-old has made 25 appearances for the Spanish club this season, netting one goal and one assist in the process in all competitions.

What Will Kounde Bring To Chelsea?

Kounde has been a rock at the back for Sevilla this season after forming a dominant defensive partnership with Diego Carlos. He can scan the danger quickly and is proficient at timing his tackles well to earn possession back on the defensive end of the field.

The French sensation doesn’t take too many risks when clearing his lines and loves to step up and make some penetrative runs with the ball from the back. Furthermore, he is a ball-playing central defender who can even fill in as a right-back if needed.

A dominant centre-back like Kounde will be a great acquisition for Chelsea if they can find a way to get him on board during the summer transfer window. At 23, the French defender’s best years are ahead of him, so the Blues can expect to get the best out of him in the coming seasons.

Kounde will bring a lot of bite and steel to Tuchel’s defence and could help them challenge for top honours over the next few years. Hence, the West London giants should think about moving in for him, especially if they end up losing either Antonio Rudiger or Andreas Christensen on a free transfer next summer.
