Chelsea beat Tottenham Hotspur at a sold-out Stamford Bridge to go top of the Barclays Women’s Super League.

Sam Kerr opened the scoring after a dozen minutes, squeezing an angled shot past keeper and three defenders. Erin Cuthbert fired home from 18 yards and after Lauren James was brought down by Ashleigh Neville, Guro Reiten made it 3-0 from the resulting penalty.

Liverpool were ahead 18 minutes in away to Brighton, Missy Bo Kearns hitting the top corner from a Melissa Lawley delivery. But the hosts came storming, as Elisabeth Terland headed in Katie Robinson’s cross, Danielle Carter scored from the spot following a handball and Robinson made it 3-1 before half-time. Shanice van de Sanden nodded in from close range on 76 minutes and crossed for Rachel Furness to head a stoppage-time equaliser.

Reading were soon in front at Villa Park. Lauren Wade stabbing the ball over the line from Natasha Dowie’s header. However, Rachel Daly got two headed goals in a ten-minute spell before half-time, from crosses delivered by Rachel Corsie and Kenza Dali. The Royals were down to ten with a red card for keeper Jackie Burns, after taking out Kirsty Hanson just outside the area. Daly completed her hat-trick from the spot, after Gemma Evans was penalised.

West Ham denied Leicester City their first point at the eighth attempt, getting the only goal of the game on 88 minutes. The Hammers scored on the break, Isibeal Atkinson finding the bottom corner after a ball by Viviane Asseyi.
