According to a report published in Le10Sport, Chelsea are interested in signing 20-year-old midfielder Lamine Camara. It will be the club’s second Senegalese target after they signed 18-year-old star Pape Daouda Diong from sister club Strasbourg.

The Blues have been tracking Camara for a while and wish to acquire his services as he is one of the most promising talents across Europe at present. Camara plays for Ligue 1 club Metz apart from representing Senegal at the national level.

Lamine Camara is a player to watch out for in future

Lamine Camara caught the limelight with his outrageous performances in the ongoing AFCON tournament. In the opening game against Gambia, he was adjudged the player of the match for striking twice including a golazo from outside the box.

His consistent performances made sure Senegal remained the only unbeaten team in the group stage. However, their campaign came to an end in the round of 16 when they faced defeat at the hands of hosts and finalist Ivory Coast.

Camara has a goal and three assists to his name in the French league this season so far. Averaging 0.9 shots, 1.3 key passes and 0.8 dribbles per game, he remains a key player for Metz. It is evident that he is not going to stay there for long and probably join a top club soon (stats via whoscored).

What will Lamine Camara bring to the club?

Chelsea has changed their approach in recent years and now they are more focused on acquiring young talents to build a core team. The interest in Lamine Camara says the same story and it’s a good pick considering the quality.

Camara is a more finished product when compared to players for his age. He is always eager to make forward runs and hence, it becomes difficult to track him. He has the ability to play short passes as well as shoot from a distance. In the defensive aspect as well, he doesn’t hesitate in making tackles and covers a lot of ground.
