Chelsea transfer news – Christian Pulisic

Newcastle United are one side who could try to sign Pulisic in January.

that the Magpies would be willing to make a move for the 24-year-old winger if he decides it could be time to leave Stamford Bridge.

Pulisic’s contract expires at the end of next season, so Chelsea are now in a position where they may have to sell him.

The Blues star has not been a regular this term, so getting him to put pen to paper on an extension may prove difficult. As per Transfermarkt, he has made just three starts in the Premier League.

What has Simon Phillips said about Christian Pulisic and Chelsea?

Phillips has told GMS that Chelsea want to hold talks with Pulisic over a new deal but are not confident that he will sign one at this moment in time.

The journalist said: “They want to hold talks with him and see if he’s open to staying beyond [2024]. At the moment, they’re not getting a feeling that he’s going to do that, so I think in the summer is when we’ll really be having a conversation about Pulisic’s future.”

How did Christian Pulisic perform at the World Cup?

The USA were recently knocked out by the Netherlands, but Pulisic had a pretty good game and tournament in general.

It was the former Borussia Dortmund man who provided the assist for Haji Wright’s goal, while he also set up another in the 1-1 draw with Wales back in the group stages.

His most important contribution in Qatar, though, was his strike against Iran, which took Gregg Berhalter’s side to the knockout round.

Pulisic, who cost Chelsea £58m (via BBC Sport), will now be hoping to replicate that form at club level once the season resumes.

Whether he gets the chance to, however, remains to be seen. Graham Potter, of course, already has the likes of Raheem Sterling and Mason Mount, so breaking into the Blues’ starting XI and staying there is not an easy task.

Pulisic obviously has quality, though, with USA Today writer Andrew Jospeh going as far as to describe him as “world class”.
