Chelsea welcome Brentford to Stamford Bridge in the Premier League on Sunday evening.
Enzo Maresca’s team can move within two points of leaders Liverpool with a win over their West London neighbours. Maresca has continued to talk down Chelsea’s chances of competing for the title but the Blues have found real form in recent weeks. Chelsea are targeting a seventh straight win in all competitions.
Last weekend, Chelsea came from two goals down to beat Tottenham Hotspur, as Cole Palmer inspired a turnaround across the capital. Another derby success on Sunday will increase the argument that Chelsea are genuine contenders in 2024/25.
Brentford have endured a torrid record away from home this season. Despite boasting the Premier League’s best home record, Thomas Frank’s team have picked up just a point on their travels. However, the Bees have won on each of their last three visits to Stamford Bridge.
Enzo Maresca left almost his entire senior side at home for Thursday’s long trip to face Astana in Kazakhstan. Pedro Neto did play in the Europa Conference League, though misses out this weekend through suspension.
Malo Gusto could return to the starting side after coming off the bench at Spurs, though Wesley Fofana and Reece James remain out. Mykhailo Mudryk should return to the Chelsea squad after illness.
Chelsea predicted XI: Sanchez; Gusto, Badiashile, Colwill, Cucurella; Caicedo, Fernandez, Palmer; Madueke, Sancho, Jackson.
Chelsea host Brentford in the Premier League on Saturday 15th December 2024. Kick-off at Stamford Bridge is 19:00 GMT.
Chelsea vs Brentford is not available to watch live in the UK. The game was moved to Sunday evening due to the Blues’ involvement in Europe on Thursday night.
