Chelsea return from the international break hoping to crawl closer to the European qualification spots when they host Aston Villa on Saturday.

The Blues have picked up seven points from their last three Premier League games having previously endured a barren run of form which wrote off any hopes of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League.

How to watch Chelsea vs Aston Villa on TV and live stream

Chelsea team news

Mason Mount is hopeful of featuring, having dropped out of England's squad during the break, while compatriot Raheem Sterling was also absent from Three Lions duty. Reece James is once again a fitness doubt with a leg problem, though Gareth Southgate didn't expect the right back to be out for too long.

Thiago Silva won't play in defence, but Wesley Fofana could be fit provided he shakes off some ring rust after coming off against Everton. Kai Havertz returned from Germany duty with an illness but should be fine to start.

There is hope N'Golo Kante could feature, but his long-awaited return may have to wait or come from the bench.

Chelsea predicted lineup vs Aston Villa

Chelsea predicted lineup (3-4-3): Arrizabalaga, Fofana, Koulibaly, Badiashile; James, Fernandez, Kovacic, Chilwell; Havertz, Felix, Mudryk.

Aston Villa team news

Matty Cash is ruled out with an injury picked up with Poland, so Ashley Young will likely come in at right back while Lucas Digne and Alex Moreno slog it out for the position on the opposite flank.

Diego Carlos made the matchday squad last time out against Bournemouth, though his return may not break up the partnership of Tyrone Mings and Ezri Konsa just yet.

Boubacar Kamara is closing in on a faster than anticipated return from an ankle problem, while Philippe Coutinho and Leander Dendoncker are fitness doubts.

Aston Villa predicted lineup (4-2-3-1): Martinez; Young, Konsa, Mings, Moreno; McGinn, Luiz; Bailey, Buendia, Ramsey; Watkins.

Chelsea vs Aston Villa score prediction

Chelsea have looked so much more fluid in recent weeks, with returning wing-backs Ben Chilwell and Reece James making a massive difference. However, the challenge for Graham Potter now is to build on those recent good performances and make sure the Blues finish higher than tenth

Villa, meanwhile, are in the odd position of having improved massively under Unai Emery without much movement on the Premier League table. They have struggled more against high quality teams, losing to Arsenal and Manchester City before their four-game unbeaten streak in the league.

That free-hit element to the contest could work in Villa's favour and they may leave west London with a share of the spoils.
