Chelsea have wobbled a bit after their phenomenal start to the season. They are still sitting in fourth place, but they have allowed Manchester United to hang around. They lost an opportunity to increase their lead over United to eight points. Now they need to beat Arsenal to keep their grasp on the Champions League spots.
Arsenal’s season from hell continued with a 1-1 draw against Sheffield United. Top four is already probably gone for them, but a loss here would be the final nail in that coffin. It’s hard to see this season going anywhere for the Gunners, but a win against Chelsea would be encouraging for the future.
The Blues will be without Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Marcos Alonso, Reece James and Christian Pulisic through carious injuries, according to PremierInjuries.com.
Calum Chambers, Kieran Tierney and Reiss Nelson have been ruled out through injury. On top of that, Sead Kolasinac and Sokratis Papastathopoulos will have late fitness tests, according to PremierInjuries.com. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will also miss out through a red card suspension.
Chelsea: Tammy Abraham
Abraham has been the real hero of Chelsea’s season. No one was sure who would score the goals for this team coming into the season. Abraham proved he was the guy to do that. His 13 goals have been crucial to the Blues success and he can feel confident in scoring against this Arsenal defence.
Arsenal: Mesut Ozil
Arsenal will need Ozil to find his creative spark to have a chance. It’s unlikely that they’ll keep a clean sheet, so they’ll need to break this Chelsea team down. Ozil hasn’t been at his creative best this season, but he’s their best chance to find a spark.
Chelsea seem like pretty clear favorites here. They just won at the Emirates and now they get to play at Stamford Bridge. They’re a better team and they’re at home, so they should win.
Prediction: 3-1 Chelsea
