Chelsea are keeping an eye on Wolves winger Adama Traore as they enter the final weeks of the transfer window and have been monitoring him for some time, according to journalist Simon Phillips.

Thomas Tuchel has overseen a busy summer of business at Stamford Bridge but there remains plenty of time to strengthen further before September 1.

What is the latest transfer news from Chelsea?

Five new signings have already made the move to west London with over £160 million splashed on the likes of Marc Cucurella, Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly in the process.

Another centre-back remains high on the agenda with Tuchel eager to bring Leicester City’s Wesley Fofana to the club, although two significant bids have already been rejected with the Foxes demanding over £80 million for his signature.

The German said this week that he wants to strengthen his attacking depth, telling a press conference: “I think we could use and strengthen our squad in depth and strength. But it’s one thing that you wish for and another that is possible. It needs to be possible.

“We are looking for top quality, top personalities, good characters and competitors on the highest levels. You don’t always get what you wish for, and that’s why we are calm and ambitious at the same time.

“There are quite some days to go until the end of the transfer period. Everything is possible until the end.”

What has Phillips said on Traore?

Phillips understands that one of those attacking targets is Wolves winger Traore, with Chelsea reportedly admiring the 26-year-old for some time.

Phillips told GIVEMESPORT: “Traore is obviously a player that Chelsea have liked for some time. Tuchel likes him and he can play as a wingback and as an attacker, which are two positions that I believe Chelsea want to strengthen before the window ends and he’s always a name that I’ve been told to keep an eye on.”

Would Traore be a good signing?

Wolves are reportedly open to selling Traore for just £10 million this summer after he returned from his loan spell with Barcelona.

The eight-cap Spain international has one outstanding weapon in terms of his pace and it is easy to see why he appeals to Tuchel in that respect, with Jurgen Klopp previously describing him as ‘unplayable‘.

His end product is often found wanting, however. In 160 Premier League appearances he has scored just six goals and provided 16 assists; not exactly a record to set pulses racing.

But it is likely a gamble worth taking from a Chelsea perspective as he would certainly add a fresh dynamic to the Blues’ attack.
