Peter Crouch will once again be one of TNT Sports’ big pundits this season, and ahead of the weekend’s international games he was asked to rank his 3 best signings of the summer.

Chelsea had one player in the mix – which you’d expect. If you buy enough tickets to the raffle, you’ve always got a better chance of winning something. Most of the Blues’ additions this summer were squad players and youngsters, there weren’t too many instant first team starters added to the mix.

But the one we did acquire has the Crouchy seal of approval.

“Pedro Neto from Wolves to Chelsea, I think he’s a top player,” Crouch said when asked to name his top three summer signings on the TNT Sports YouTube channel.

“I think many in Europe would have signed him and Chelsea have got a top one there along with many others, but I think he’s a top signing.”

Above him, Crouch had two interesting choices. Both were players linked to Chelsea at some point – Max Kilman who moved to West Ham, and Dom Solanke who went to Tottenham.

Pedro Neto crosses the ball for Chelsea.

Neto needs time and space to bed in

We’ve not really seen the best of Neto yet in a Chelsea shirt. He was thrown into action right away and has played a few games, but hasn’t been able to do much beyond assisting Joao Felix in the thrashing of Wolves.

He’s on international duty with Portugal at the moment and played last night against Croatia. We really hope he comes back relatively fresh and can start to make a proper impact in Enzo Maresca’s first team once he gets settled in to regular starts. He’s finally taken a long-expected step up to a top team – it’s time to make it count.
