The Blues are understood to have struck a deal in principle with the 18-year-old forward, with the Stamford Bridge club ready to meet his modest £5million release clause.

Guiu has had a new offer on the table from Barcelona, alongside Chelsea’s proposal.

But now the Spain Under-19s cap is expected to make the west London move.

Chelsea are still weighing a move for Lille’s Jonathan David, though the Blues will face competition for the Canada striker from a clutch of Premier League rivals.

Teen talent Guiu is understood to be regarded as a great value for money recruit given his release fee.

Chelsea would be expected to continue their bid to add further power to their forward line, even with Guiu now likely to be on his way to west London.

Aston Villa forward Omari Kellyman continues to inch closer to his £19million Chelsea switch, having undergone medical testing this week.

Guiu scored just 23 seconds into his La Liga debut for Barcelona, coming off the bench to notch the winner in a 1-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao in October 2023.

The highly rated Spanish starlet made seven first team appearances for Barcelona in his senior breakthrough campaign.
