Chelsea to sign new striker this summer – even if Haaland isn’t available | OneFootball

The reports in the Athletic this morning that Chelsea are chasing Erling Haaland are almost designed to get fans dreaming.

After a summer where Blues followers were showered with signings, they still don’t seem to be satisfied, and there’s nobody a football fan could want more than Haaland at the moment.

What’s interesting about the report is that it makes clear that, even if Haaland does prove out of our reach, we will sign another forward anyway.

“The Athletic has been assured that Chelsea are determined to bring a top striker to Stamford Bridge at the end of the season and that Haaland is the player they want,” the piece reports.

What that tells you is that there is going to be some movement in that department in the months to come. Olivier Giroud and Tammy Abraham have been a solid pair for us, each excelling at times this season and last, but clearly the club thinks it’s time for an upgrade.

This means they will likely sell Giroud, opening up a spot for a new face.

Fans will be begging for the club to make that face Haaland – but if we can’t snag him, it sounds like someone will come in regardless.
